Changing Lives, One Classroom at a Time
Project Alianza
We disrupt generational poverty by training local women as educators to aid low-resource schools in Central America.
In 2018, the community of Mancotal and Project Alianza embarked on a mission to revolutionize education in a rural village where no accessible school existed. The need for a school in Mancotal was evident, but, as expressed by many parents in the village, they never expected a school to be actually built there.
With unwavering support from village members, a school was established on Los Olivos Coffee Farm, and Norma, an inspiring educator, was brought on board. Norma's journey began with 32 first-grade students, and her role quickly expanded to include children in the first, second, and third grades. Her training transformed her into an empowered educator, mobilizing the village to create a fully operational primary school.
Today, the school, named Los Olivos, thrives, serving students from grades one through six, and is now sustained by the Ministry of Education. Norma continues to enhance education through after-school classes using the Teaching at The Right Level Methodology, boosting children’s ability to read and write.?
This inspiring journey from a Los Olivos’s inception to its current sustainability underlines the critical importance of consistent support as the driving force behind long-lasting and transformative change in underserved communities. Thanks to AllPeopleBeHappy foundation (APBH) and our shared commitment to education, not only is there a thriving school but also nurtured a community-driven initiative. Norma's training, made possible through APBH’s support, ensures that children in Mancotal have access to quality education and a brighter future.?
