It is sad to see many social media channels eating promoters money besides the targeting is somehow inaccurate, I believe that businesses should focus more into creativity of a product that could really affect client's life, so once it is done right then satisfied clients will do the promotion on all channels online and offline.
Let me set an example, if you are a retailer of imported cars, don't just park your cars in front of your store and use social media to post new deals/discounts, you should invite people to your store, anyone who is in love with one type of car then allow him to take it and cruise around, after that, ask him to leave a comment about his experience, then see what is the reason if he didn't want to buy it or what is the reason that pushed him to buy it. After all that, make the story telling about the experience and feedback of your clients. If you apply this to any of your products/services, then you will better understand how clients think about what you sell, and if one of them get satisfied, then all other customers will know about his/her story.
I believe that digital marketing (online advertising) is just a TOOL to use, but the only valuable tool to use is how the product changed your client's feelings, desire, emotion and motivation.
