Changing Jobs in Mortgage? Do your Homework!

Busy...Crazy Busy! Everyone is crazy busy and three people that I work with have left in the last three weeks for more pay and better opportunities. Why am I still sitting here?

That's what a Processor told me recently on a phone call. As the owner of a mortgage recruiting/consulting firm I'm hearing this a lot. There are amazing opportunities out there and terrific offers being made. I know, I have several mortgage company clients that are making a lot of those offers! A word of caution though...do your homework. We're seeing unheard of signing bonuses and salaries with a lot of lenders.

While that may seem awesome to get a much higher salary and in some cases well-deserved (especially if your current employer hasn't stepped up with an increase during this very profitable time in our industry) you have to watch for desperation and don't join a sinking ship! Nine months into this pandemic and our "new norm" of WFH there's some lenders that are still taking on water so to speak with their operations teams. Joining one of these could be a train wreck waiting to happen and you may find yourself searching shortly for yet another opportunity.

On the flip side, have hope! There are some amazing companies out there that are doing a wonderful job with support, turn times and offering their teams a great company culture in the process. We are blessed at Maverick Financial Group to have many of those lenders as our clients. Everyone is busy. Let me say it again, everyone is busy. But busy can be great when you work with people and a company you love that values your contributions, your skill sets and you as an individual.
