Changing Jobs Is Hard

by Kelsey Alpaio, Senior Associate Editor

Last week, I made the tough decision to leave my role here as an editor at Ascend.?

As I prepare to make this transition, I’m reminded of the last time I switched jobs. The simple idea of change sent me into a spiral. I was unsure, anxious, and tempted to call things off and return to the safety net of my old company.?

But these last four years—and the coworkers and authors I’ve had the privilege of working with—have changed me for the better. I’ve become more confident in myself and my abilities. I’ve learned how to set goals and follow through. I’ve figured out how to speak up and ask for what I want.

Of course, I'm still sad and nervous to leave this job. But I feel more equipped to make the jump this time. I know that I have the skills and confidence now to make this decision the right one for me and my career.

I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned in this role. And I’m even more grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to share it all with you.?

If you’re considering making a change or transitioning to a new role, I hope these articles from our experts can help you find the same confidence.?
