Changing the Game

Changing the Game

“Working with Joanna was nothing short of transformative.”

Client testimonial

This client asked for a refund after 2 sessions.? Fast forward 3 weeks later, today, when she gave her final talk that gave me goosebumps.?

When we first spoke on the phone a month ago, I told her, “I guarantee my work.”? She made me prove it later when she asked for her money back. That gave me pause: she’d been doing the work, and was on track with what she came here to do, but she wasn’t happy. I’d seen this before. Here’s what I said:

“Sure, no problem with a refund. Let me explain the options,” I said, “Option A: you take a refund and we walk away peaceably.

Or B, you do what you came here to do.? Remember you set a high bar for yourself. It may seem like it should be easier than it is, but the greater the talk, the deeper we dig to get it. Over the years, I’ve seen people walk away and not put in that work, and it shows. The audience can tell the second someone gets on stage whether they’re going to sit through your talk, or go on an emotional journey.

My job is to get that inspiring talk from you. Your job then is to double-down on the work I’ve given you.? If you choose to proceed, the refund option goes away now that it’s been deployed, and you address your doubts as part of the process of discovery, rather than as reasons to quit.”??

She doubled-down, and in the next session she got the first draft of what would become her “Inspiring Expert” talk. Now, we laugh about what we came through, which is part of why I wish I had ten more like her.

We all have an inspiring story, and to be able to share that personal growth inside of our professional accomplishment achieves something previously thought impossible: turning the breaking points in our past into our superpower.

Thanks Valerie Crafton for inviting me into your incredible discovery. I can’t wait for all the big stages that will be graced by your unstoppable presence!?

Thank you for helping me find the courage to embrace vulnerability. Public speaking is challenging but being truly vulnerable while speaking is an entirely different skill—and you’ve mastered bringing that out of me beautifully.
