The Changing Face of Business

It is interesting to see how more and more modern day businesses have been flourishing having started from that one elusive, brilliant and innovative idea. The connection between the company and the assets they need to own to run the business are becoming more and more irrelevant. The company which takes the lead with their idea of innovation and comes up with the E-based or M-based application to connect to customers primarily owns the brand. The value the innovation brings in with its commercial and customer reach is what connects all the other parties into the association. The vendors own the assets and happy to tag on to the app owner as it provides them avenues to multiply their current business. The financial benefits are shared and a full-fledged company is formed. More and more virtual businesses are taking prominence in today’s world. Brick and Mortar infrastructure is relegated to more of premises to house enabling functions, R&D and customer touch points. The core business happens on the fly with the commercial transaction happening on a real time basis, thereby providing little room for accumulation of bad debts. It’s a win-win for all involved – the brand/app owner, the vendors involved, the sub-contractors, the employees employed by the company/ vendor to fulfill the business process and the customer who avails the benefits of convenience, cost, speed and quality of service.

Young entrepreneurs are going out of the way to tap into that one customer need that remains untapped or un-serviced. Once they are convinced on the commercial value the business model can ring in they take the plunge. Many of them are getting excellent backing from Angel Investors and Private Equity partners who are more than keen to park their money in young and budding businesses which show promise and potential.

As customers we will continue to witness more and more convenience and comforts in our lives, as most of the services we would need to live our day-to-day lives and beyond will be available on our fingertips or at the very place we stand.  The physical structures of businesses are getting replaced with more and more virtual business models. It will be interesting to see how the traditional brick and mortar businesses will be able to withstand the onslaught of new generation “E or M” based businesses which are well and surely gaining ground.
