The future of AI at work (LINK HERE )

The debate around AI use in the workplace is in full swing. Pew Research reported that two-thirds of US adults wouldn’t participate in the hiring process if AI was involved. To make matters worse, 61% of the respondents weren’t even aware that AI could be used in that way at all.?

In March, an AI opposition group that included Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Elon Musk released a public letter urging to postpone AI training for systems more advanced than GPT-4. While AI defenders acknowledge the AI threat is real, they see a solution in transparent regulatory efforts that would increase accountability and transparency at work.

The process has already started with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) initiatives like “algorithmic fairness” and guidance for employers on staying compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations

Upskilling your workforce: three skills to focus on right now (LINK HERE )

In today’s rapidly advancing world, organizations are in need of a way to quickly address rising workforce challenges. One such technique for doing so is upskilling your employees. According to the PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) annual survey, an impressive 93% of CEOs who introduced advanced workforce upskilling programs reported increased productivity.

Some of the most in-demand skills:?

  1. Analytical Thinking Skills. This skill, along with creative thinking, was the top skill in the recent World Economic Forum (WEF) report. Strong analytical skills allow employees to work more independently and make them better problem-solvers.?
  2. Leadership Skills. Great leadership skills can encompass many things, ranging from communication skills to taking responsibility for one’s actions. Mentorship programs are an excellent opportunity for employees to share knowledge and sharpen their leadership skills.?
  3. Time Management Skills. Lacking time management skills can lead to burnout and poor employee performance which inevitably takes its toll on your business. Time-tracking tools and time audits can be a great help in helping your employees to get better at time management.?

Why skills-based talent management is the key to optimal productivity in the workplace?(LINK HERE )

A skills-based approach helps organizations minimize bias in their talent decisions and effectively bridge widening skills gaps. The process starts with creating a skills framework to later evaluate your workforce skills within it. If executed correctly, a skills framework will make a huge impact on? the following processes at your organization:

  1. Recruitment. The traditional hiring process often relies on factors like tenure and titles forgoing an unbiased assessment of the required skills. By focusing on skills, organizations have a much better chance of attracting and retaining new talent.
  2. Training and development. Constant shifts in technology and labor markets require organizations to approach skills in a more flexible and open-minded way. This means regular skills assessments and skill acquisition that are aligned with the current business needs.?
  3. Compensation and benefits. The skills-based approach helps organizations align compensation with actual value creation as skills are a clear way to measure expertise.
  4. Internal mobility. Succession and promotion decisions are the most effective when based on objective skills assessments allowing the right people to advance their careers.?

To successfully adopt the skills-based talent strategy, organizations need to ensure a transparent and fair collection of skill data as well as full managerial trust in the benefits of this approach.?

How we work will change, but it doesn't have to be dramatic if you prepare your teams by focusing on knowledge-based tasks that AI helps to optimize. You must acquire new skills and shift your organization towards future technology to do that. You can't be driven by randomness or remain reactive.
