The Changemaker's Week 9.12.22

This week, radical rest has been everywhere. It's come up time after time, but in all our conversations both within FE Constellations and everywhere else. We are all exhausted.

Joss brilliantly asked the question mid-week: is the real joy of FE Constellations that it's a place for radical rest, rest-for-hope?

Here, we began by thinking through Impostor/ImPOSER/Gaslighting syndrome, via the work of Ruchika Tulshyan and Jodi-Ann Burey (recommending Ruchika's book 'Inclusion on Purpose' too). And the challenges to the term 'Impostor Syndrome' from Dr Muna Abdi and Becky Bainbridge.

Navigating Sticky Spaces on Tuesday got us reframing a problem into a?potentia?solution: what if we viewed temporary/sessional staff in FE as pollinators and changemakers? This prompted an?adrenaline fuelled LinkedIn post?(honestly, no wine involved!) on Tuesday evening.

And Joss and I got together to plan Radical Rest week for next week, beginning 12th December. We've been reading, thinking, researching and talking about it for long enough, but as we tried to write our Radical Rest Programme we realised we needed more...and that more was a conversation with the sector. So, centred on LinkedIn and amplified to other platforms, we are running a range of activities mirroring a week in the life of FE Constellations, also as a way of showing a sometimes hard-of-hearing sector what it is that we do. This includes our first ever podcast, so watch out for a link to that on Monday!
