Change Your URL!

If you have a good looking LinkedIn profile, you should want people to see it. More LinkedIn views can lead to a larger network, more sales leads, more interviews, more conversations and more confidence in your skills. An easy way to generate more views is by sharing your LinkedIn URL. Your URL, or Uniform Resource Locator, is the web address that allows people to find your profile. I recommend including your URL on business cards, letters, and your resume.

Mine is: https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/nickreedsmith/

Step 1 - Go to Your Profile

Click on "Me" to open a drop-down.

Then select "View profile".

This will take you to your profile.

Step 2 - Edit your URL

Click on "Edit public profile & URL".

Now you can see your public profile.

Click on the blue pen icon to enter custom text.

You should change your URL to something professional, like your name. I recommend using your first and last name unless it's really common. There are plenty of Nick Smiths in the world, so I included my middle name, Reed. A friend of mine used a combination of his name and city.

I typed "nickreedsmith" yielding "https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/nickreedsmith/" as my URL. This looks a lot nicer than a jumble of random letters and numbers.

I hope you found this post helpful!
