People, even some professionals erroneously have the perspective about project management that many people including professionals equate the profession as an endeavour that only has to do with construction. But in the real sense, project management applies to multiple sectors that include government, nonprofit, tech, construction, engineering, finance, health, marine and military. Others are supply chains, transport, telecommunications, works, education, business administration, banking and manufacturing, etc. Project Management is already being studied as a core discipline at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The Importance of Project Management Executives
Project Management Professionals are value carriers with demonstrable experience, education, skill and competency required to lead, manage and direct projects. The Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) defines a project as a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product, service or result.

Whether, personal or at corporate levels, projects are being embarked upon to meet certain objectives through deliverables that are set for a project. The objective of a project defines the direction in which its activities will flow or align to achieve the planned outcomes. According to PMI, a deliverable is defined as any unique and verifiable product, result, or capability to perform a service that is required to be produced to complete a process, phase, or project. The new product you are trying to develop is a project; your daily production or manufacturing includes many other aspects of human endeavours.
Classification of ProjectsProjects helps organizations and companies innovate and drive change. They are classified into:
1. Soft projects—the outcome or product of soft projects are usually intangible assets.2. Hard projects—the outcome or product of hard projects are usually tangible assets.
