I’ve been studying culture patterns from the most high-performing teams, and one common denominator is clear: a shared set of core values.

Our core values are our most basic agreements.

Alignment on your core values is just as important as aligning your tires—it helps you avoid collisions and gets you to your destination much, much faster.

They’re so important because they inform all decision-making that can be felt at every level of your business.

Similar to bees within a hive (one of nature’s most intelligent communities), each person on the team serves the organization based on a value system.

Everything done is in service to the whole.

For us, that means having fierce conversations rooted in truth and respect, embracing radical transparency, and collaborating with integrity to achieve shared success.

It begs the question…what are your core values?

What do really you stand for and perhaps most importantly…does your team agree to?behave?accordingly?

Take the time to think through what matters to you, what you want your legacy to be, and how you can speak truth to power about what’s important to you and your business.

We only have a short blip of time to be alive.

If you’re experiencing excessive friction, chaos, or churn in your organization, I suggest taking a good hard look at your core values and how they could be impacting your culture.

It may be time for some revisions.
