Unemployment is a major issue in India. We are a country of 140 crore people. We have lakhs of people who are either unemployed, under-employed, or are employed only for few months a year.?

The union government and our respective state governments failed to generate employment because their efforts are minimal. Union governments schemes like Skill India, Start-up India and economic assistance for cottage industry remained a slogan.?

We have more and more educated youths looking for job with every passing year. On the other hand, the uneducated people in rural India do not have job for at least six months a year.?

Ragi is the major crop in Karnataka. The Ragi cultivation will keep farmers engaged for six months a year, and they will remain unemployed for the next six months. This is because they depend on rain for Ragi cultivation. Some of them will have job for 100 days a year through MGNREGA, while others depend on animal husbandry. They leave bare-bone existence. They will stock required quantity of Ragi for an year, and will sell the remaining for a negligible price. They eat Ragi for all three meal a day. Often their meal will not include pulses like Dal (Lentils), Channa (chickpea), green piece, egg or meat. It is the reason for mal-nutrition. Most of them live in Kutcha houses (Houses made of mud and straw). They will go to government hospitals for medical treatment and their children will study in government school. But most of them will discontinue education after class seven or ten.?

Above paragraph about rural Karnataka is just an example. We will find people in other states who are living pathetic life than those we find in rural Karnataka. Many youngsters who discontinue education in rural India are extremely talented and can contribute a lot to our economy. Improvement in their per capita income, standard of living, and purchasing power will make significant positive impact on our economy. Unfortunately, both union government and our respective state governments are doing least to provide financial assistance for cottage industries and the required training.?

This is why India remained backward, when China grew to compete with developed countries. Lack of education, Poverty, and unemployment works as cause and effect.?

In India, we have thousands of farm produces which can be processed and packed to sell in local markets. We can even export it to various countries. It will not be difficult to find buyers for superior quality food products.?

Tea, Coffee, black pepper, Cardamom and cashew nuts grown in Kerala can be purchased directly from farmers to pack and distribute to local markets. Similarly, the Ragi grown in Karnataka can be purchased from farmers directly. There are mills in Karnataka where they will refine Ragi and grind it for a negligible price. The same can be supplied to nearby cities in two wheelers, in attractive packets which will keep it hygiene and edible for several months. One Kilo of Ragi flour is sold in Kerala for rupees 60, when the farmers sell the Ragi for less than rupees 20. Same is the story of mustard grown in Karnataka. Agricultural produces grown in Kerala and Karnataka mentioned here are just examples. We will find such locally available products across India like wheat, corn, pulses, etc.?

The above said business will create a decent livelihood for thousands. It will help farmers to demand the price they deserve. The above said business can be started without large scale investment. A group of 3 to 4 people can start this with an initial investment of rupees 30,000 per person. The attractive colorful packets are available for purchase from different vendors across India. This link will help you buy them from Indiamart.

Those who invest big can start this with a factory building. They will require investment for machineries to make plastic packets with beautiful printing on it. They would also require machineries to refine and process raw materials. Those who start big should have a truck or a van to bring raw materials and to supply packaged food products?to retailers. The people who invest large amount of money will create employment for many and can export it to other countries. This is an option for many who either lost their corporate job, and those wealthy educated youngsters looking for business opportunity.?

I am not mocking those who lost their jobs. There are several such success stories. Here is an example of an IIT Alumnus who quit US job to start a Dairy Farm in Hyderabad. We have Robin Nagar , a LinkedIn member who has created a brand called #valleycultureindia.?

If you are a successful businessman, or if you are well settled with a high paying job, then please pass these ideas to unemployed youths in your native village or town.?

It is true that we Indians should come out of the social stigma that one's family should be in business to do business, or only those wealthy can do business. We all should appreciate and encourage every individual for their effort. Everyone's contribution will lead to the development of our country. Watch this short?video to see what?Ratan Tata said.?
