"A change would do you good"? ??????

"A change would do you good" ??????

Sheryl Crow said it best- “a change would do you good”…

Context is everything, so let’s go back a bit.

Over the weekend, I went to my local pharmacy and as I walked towards the payment counter I noticed something new. “You have no covid screen!”, I said with enthusiasm.

Pat, behind the till, responded with a smile, “A change for 2023, we are living on the edge”.?

Covid was serious business, but what is enlightening is the simple joy we take from small changes.

I suddenly felt like I engaged better with her for the first time ever (that screen has been up for as long as I have known her).

Moving on from this...

I had a call with a colleague this week who asked; “any New Year’s resolutions?”. I stuttered a bit, considering telling a lie, but decided to be honest.

The fact is, I dont make New Year’s resolutions. I often feel the pressure to say something like: “To read 2 books a month”, or “to get fit”, or “to visit another country”.

But I just dont do it.

For me, change is welcome at any time. When I see or feel the need, when I identify a relevant problem or when I feel unsatisfied with the way things are. This could happen in Feb, July, August…you get the point.

Ive already had so much change:

Last year, I relocated (from the chaotic city to the chilled coastline), changed employers (twice), made a career adjustment, changed my daily routine, went off anxiety meds, got into an incredibly beautiful relationship, took on homeschooling my son, and became a stronger person by default.

I dont want more personal change, I want a sense of normality, for things to settle and to get into a groove.

My new job is an incredible part of this because I am sharing my experience (19 years now), knowledge, the mistakes and the achievements I have made and am venturing into what I am calling my “leveling-up”. It’s about time!

As a human, I am always a work in progress. I am always looking at my faults and trying to be better (no New Year’s resolutions needed).

But as a professional, what an opportunity! I love sharing, talking, learning, listening, researching and, most of all, fixing.

So here I am, working for an incredible company that has achieved so much, and I get to be a part of what is to come, to work on the small and large changes, to feed my core needs (as a person) of making improvements and feeling relevant.

More change will always come, in every aspect of my life.

“A change is as good as a holiday” - look at where a year of change led me to.

For now, i’ll take the requests and consider the needs.

2023, I’m watching you? ?? ?? ??
