Change the World... Your Story of Hope

Change the World... Your Story of Hope

“You are not here merely to make a living, you are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” – Woodrow Wilson

This time last year, I was preparing to move into the roaring 20s. Little did I know how roaring the rapids would be. 2020 has been both the most challenging year and yet the greatest growth year. As we prepare to move into 2021, there has never been more of an opportunity for us to choose our destiny, embrace what we have learned, and be intentional with our stories and what we bring into the world every day.

Our stories influence who we are, what we can accomplish, and how we perceive the world.

Are you choosing Abundance over Fear (scarcity); Growth over Failure; Curiosity over Assumptions; Resilience over Defeat; and Significance over Success?

In the space of change, if we are not intentional, we are at risk of new stories emerging that become barriers to success. Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you are right.” Now is the time to lead with stories that build trust and establish connection, stories where you show how you can create significant impact. When you realize you are the author of your own story, you are empowered to have greater control over your future direction. Finding your inner compass enables you to be successful maneuvering through changing surroundings.

Hope is the language of innovation. Let’s tell stories of hope. This is more than just thinking of what you’re hopeful for. It is about asking yourself what are the stories you’re telling that provide hope to yourself and to others with language full of gratitude and kindness. Hope at its core is our ability to be resilient; to not be defeated; to know that something better is possible even when times are already great!

When we are telling and sharing stories of hope, we begin to see what is possible. We listen deeply to each other so we can connect around our dreams and begin to grow together. We see new perspectives. With hope, we can be intentional with our words and actions.

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller

Hope is a powerful influencer. Think of someone you want to engage in the story of hope. Try using these questions to get you started.

1.  What do you hope for?

2.  What gives you hope today?

3.  What hope are you offering in the stories you share with others?

For me and my Christian community, this is the first week of Advent, the four weeks before Christmas. Each week we light a candle to help us look forward to something greater to come. This week symbolizes hope. I invite you to celebrate with us this week. How are you engaging with stories of hope?
