No change in the weather

It feels like we just finished our last visit to USCIS and here we are putting a nearly identical immigration package together to go back to Canada. The only difference is that we both have bachelor's degrees with careers now and small children.
My partner is the only one of us without permission to work in Canada. That needs to change. I wake up every morning and check Twitter to see if we've gone to war. I live in a state where our governor models the new president and it's just not friendly here anymore. We could always come back. Three more years to the next election. I can't imagine this nightmare will last longer than the next election cycle.
I can't give you legal advice about immigration but I can tell you what we had to do - from letters stating our friends attended our wedding and two trips to Charlotte, North Carolina when the digital fingerprinting machine failed to read because I wash my hands too much - we'll tell you what it was actually like to come to the land of the free.
You can preorder a copy of our book "How to Immigrate to the US and How To Get Back OUT!" by visiting our Kickstarter at www.kck.st/2teZjGc. For $25 you get a copy sent to you the second it's printed next year.
I feel so much for the folks who are running away from war torn countries. I know there are lots of wonderful things about the US that I'll miss but I want to go home. Like so many Newfoundlanders before me, no change in the weather, and there's no change in me.
I can't wait to hear the national anthem and watch 22 Minutes and see Justin Trudeau on the local news.
Most Canadians would never say this but we have a lot to be proud of. We're decades ahead in human rights, healthcare and education. And we welcome immigrants.
There's a million reasons to stay here but a million and one to go back home.....maybe you should just read the book...
