Change – The way I look at it!

Change – The way I look at it!

Change is the only constant; I am sure we have all heard this at some point during our lives. And if we are to believe this, I wonder why we still resist change. Oftentimes, when I look for answers that explain this resistance, I am always met with reasons that culminate into change being looked at as disruptive and intrusive, hence feared. And while that may be one way of looking at it, change can also be looked at as evolution.

The humankind if resisted change, wouldn’t have had this journey of evolution, would it?

I am a firm believer of the concept that change is necessary for growth, both in personal and professional capacity. While it may be very comfortable to stay in a place of familiarity, it won’t help as much to become an upgraded version of oneself. In fact, challenging the status quo could open the door for a myriad of opportunities that lead one towards the path of development & growth.

Simply put, it’s how one chooses to look at and deal with change that matters most.

How we respond to change is a function of our mindset. When one is going through a transition, you are shifted outside of the comfort zone, challenging your assumptions, and testing your capabilities. You are open to the possibility of learning that what you have been doing in the past isn't suiting the future, or even the current circumstances. And that experience brings you at the helm of a thriving future.?

You begin to thrive in new situations because you have proven to yourself that you can, not only handle change, but also take advantage of the opportunity that comes with it and snowball it into something constructive.

Change will happen anyway with an exception of some changes that you can take control of. But in most, it’s better to embrace the course of change and make it your own along the way. Here are the 3 things to always consider before fully resisting change:

·??????What is it that you are really resisting about change?

·??????How does this change impact your current situation?

·??????What can you learn from this change today to use in your future?

Once you have truly answered the above three questions, you learn about your own capacity for growth and learning. You learn that change is a directive to grow and incremental to your personal development.

Very nicely complimenting the Kubler-Ross Change curve, the eventual acceptance stage opens up many doors of opportunity!

Very well said sir! Adding to it is that while transformational change can be planned that way....the simple process of Learn, unlearn & relearn should be continuous to keep pushing oneself towards excellence... #Unfreeze#change#refreeze

Thank You Nilam Patel for such a wonderful blog! Indeed it's truly make sense in the current market situation. We truly believe in the strategic decisions of our organization, that it's definitely propel in the post pandemic era.

Very well said Nilam Patel, agree with this on change, while mostly it starts with resistance, and I think it’s all in the mind, the sooner one begins to accept and embrace the sooner you begin to realise that it’s actually a win-win for both the organisation and its people! While the organisation changes for the better, people change professionally through the learning & development change brings with it.
