Change Warrior or a Change Worrier?"

Change Warrior or a Change Worrier?"

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." Socrates

Change is inevitable but that does not mean I have to like it.?

There is the change that happens naturally and gradually over time and then there is COVID change.?Do I need to say more? Over the last 18 months, change has been forced upon all of us.?But as you have seen and learned, only those who were willing to embrace the change have been able to grow and thrive.??

Leaders who embraced the change created dynamic teams with a stronger and healthier culture, whereas leaders and organizations that were not open to change tended to be stagnant and vulnerable to failure.?In other words,

When transformational leaders frame change in the right way and take action to support that change, team members are way more likely to embrace it. And guess what? Today, the need for change exists everywhere.?No matter how successful the company or organization—and yours is no different—change is here. How you decide to engage it will determine how far you will go.

As a transformational leader, you should constantly be asking yourself how to improve and be willing to lead the way.?To become the change agent your team and organization need, you must first be willing to be a changed agent.?Effective transformational leaders understand that change begins with them.?You cannot ask your team to go where you have not gone.?

The truth, change is never comfortable and always requires stretching.?Like a rubber band, its purpose is only found when it is stretched.?

Here are three steps you can take today to become the change agent your team and organization need to excel during these challenging times.?

  1. 1. Check your attitude.?As a transformational leader is it important to keep your cool. You may not be able to control some circumstances and causes for change, but you can control your attitude and energy.?Remember your attitude is contagious.?

  1. 2. Cast vision.?Change is never easy, but when there is a clear vision for the “why” of change, the “will” to change will follow.?
  2. 3. Build ownership and celebrate victories.??In order for your team to implement the change, they need to own the change.?Seek buy-in at every step.?Because change is hard it is important to create wins and celebrate victories along the way.?

Once you have made the personal changes necessary it is important to engage your team.?People will be naturally resistant to change, and even if everyone appears to be on the same page at first, it’s going to be your job to usher people past the disruption and create a new status quo.?

Don't be afraid to reflect with your team about how to address the changes.?Allow them to express how they feel about the change and ask any questions they may have.?This will allow you to recognize and address potential areas of resistance, as well as to clarify vision and strategy.

Change is inevitable, how you choose to acknowledge and embrace the change will determine your team’s success and ultimately the success and growth of your organization.?

Let the growth begin!
