Change?
Do you really want to change? Do you really need to change? Is change really necessary for you and your organization?
You are successful. You have a tenured, loyal team? Let’s face it, business is good, maybe even great and most importantly, your business is profitable. With everything going so well, why would you even remotely consider changing anything about your business model?
Bob Dylan’s lyrics from 1964 are still echoing today in our ears over fifty years later in his classic song, The Times They Are A Changin’.
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.
The answer is a simple one, you not only need to change, but if you want your business to be viable in the upcoming years you MUST change and change now!
Look at what is happening in your industry right now as you read these words. Peoples’ buying habits are changing. Traditional media is rapidly dying a slow death. Goods are being bought and sold in a non-traditional way. Manufacturers continue to squeeze their business partners, creating smaller and smaller margins. Global government agencies are becoming actively involved in almost every business transaction and strict regulations are becoming the new normal. Google, Apple and Amazon are just three of the new world order of companies that have more money than they can spend and are on the precipice of world business domination of any industry they choose to enter. These are just a few of the real 21st century challenges that we are facing.
We don’t write this to be negative or pessimistic as we believe the future is extremely bright, but it will be bright only for those who take action and make the difficult decision to change from the traditional way of doing business to a progressive, strategical system of attacking a market.
The title of this book is The Magic Bullet. The reason for the title is because we were told for years, by numerous “experts” in the field, that there was no “magic bullet” to achieve our vision of total dominance in our industry. They told us to continue to do the same old thing that we had always done. Of course, when we followed their expensive advice we got the same old results. When we began discussing new, non-traditional platforms with them, they convinced us to invest thousands of dollars in numerous programs they recommended. The results these “experts” achieved for us were weak and they always had excuses for not getting us the return on our investment that they promised. Unfortunately, we received the weak results, their lousy excuses and they received ALL of our money and didn’t offer us a refund or even a discount on the next worthless idea they had.
At this point, you may be asking, “Did you really find the magic bullet that helped you achieve your vision?” As you continue to read on you will find out exactly what we mean by total dominance and it will be up to you to determine if what we share with you is smoke and mirrors or if by trial and error we found the “Magic Bullet” that all the experts say doesn’t exist. In the end, you will be forced to choose. Do you choose to believe in our findings and results or continue to listen to all these vendors who badger owners and managers for more money on programs that provide paltry results? The exciting thing is that you are now reading this book and you have been given the greatest power available to man and that power is the power of choice. Your greatest power is your power to choose.
Will you choose to change or will you choose to remain? Mr. Dylan said, “The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast, the slow one now, will later be fast, as the present now, will later be past, the order is rapidly fadin', and the first one now, will later be last. For the times they are a-changin'.”
See you tomorrow
