"To change the status quo, a bit of madness is necessary, wich comes from discontent and the courage to abandon past formulas to invent the future" - Thomas Sankara
Thomas Sankara is a great inspiration to me. He was the leader of Burkina Faso, which means "incorruptible country." Sankara himself changed the name of the country, previously colonialist, when he took over the administration. This was the first statement of what he would do for the country, which was devastated by poverty, corruption, and external debts.
From his story, I learned 3 attributes that I consider super powerful:
1. Amplifying the voice of the collective
2. Being discontented with inequalities
3. Having the audacity to invent the future
If Sankara were alive today, besides expressing how he was a transformational leader, I would also say it's less about madness and more about the collective, discontent with the status quo and injustices, but also about being one step ahead. We need a new model that considers not only financial performance but also the social impact in general.
