To keep ahead of competitors, while living in a world of constant change, its very important to accept and facilitate change both in personal and professional lives. Change is always met with resistance. Changes are imperative for any organization. Nothing is constant including the nature, during the autumn season the old leaves are shed, giving way to new leaf. As Camus rightly quotes “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower”, change should be welcomed as it gives rise to growth and better opportunities.
Vishnu is said to descend in form of an avatar to restore cosmic order. Every Avatar was different as the challenges were different according to the time, people and place, and Vishnu incarnates in that avatar, when there is reluctance to change from some, to stop further loss and tragedies on earth. So should be the case with individuals’ teams and organizations, when certain formulas don’t work, or when there are better opportunities in expansion, merging and acquisitions, every individual has to embrace it in positive manner.
Individuals, families, teams and organization and even nations which don’t accept change with right spirit have had a backward journey, in the process leading to stunted growth despite ample opportunities. Had the PSU’s like ITI, HMT, BEML and others had readied themselves for Change, would they have died as diseased industries? They ruled the nation for nearly three decades providing employment to thousands, with great infrastructure and employee friendly policies. Or even in the case of Black Berry who ruled the mobile world had to face similar situation, for resisting change.
Change is a painstaking process and leaders have to put lot of efforts to help bring about better changes in the organization.Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 4 Shloka 8:
"To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of righteousness, I manifest myself, millennium after millennium".
Leaders as change agents like Lord Krishna, for the benefit of organization, need to change their style, to reestablish the principles of Organization time to time. The leaders should have the required skill to implement and communicate ‘Change’ to their subordinates. And for this the Leaders should speak to their employees in a lay man’s language, about what changes are to take place and affect on their operation. Leaders who communicate vision and work along with the team in order to make change successful are always treated as Messiahs.
Process of metamorphosis is very crucial in the life of a butterfly, if it resists change, as a caterpillar; it can never reach its destiny and would never had the world behind it for its glorious self. Many successful people, thought leaders and business houses are what they are for they have chosen to reach their great destinies by changing what needs to be changed at the right time and place with right teams. For Change, sometimes is like a speeding train, its at your platform for few seconds, if you board without giving a second thought you will reach your glorious destination, and remember the boarding and journey is as important as the destination as it involves many life lessons.
