Change Set Helper, Salesforce Dev Tools, London's Calling Talks and SFXD Discord

Welcome to this week's edition of CloudBites Weekly, where we have some great tools for you to check out and some fantastic content to dive into. So let's have a look.

Change Set Helper

Okay, let's get this out of the way first. I personally do not use change sets, nor do I recommend the use of change sets in environments where there are multiple people making changes, you have multiple sandboxes, you need a concrete log of changes, or the ability to roll changes back. There are a plethora of tools out there (I use Gearset and have done happily for many years), and you can find out more on a range of tools from books such as Rob Cowell 's DevOps for Architects (which I reviewed here ).

For smaller teams and organisations or solo admins, change sets are still the most common way of deploying changes between environments but can be challenging as you build more complex solutions. This week, I was told about "Salesforce Change Set Helper ", a Chrome Extension by Susan Bohme that helps you to manage the contents of a change set more efficiently and includes a simple diff tool between environments. If you are still using change sets give it a try!

Salesforce Dev Tools

Another great Chrome Extension I learned about this week is "Salesforce Dev Tools " in this post by Anna Shaffer .

Anna's breakdown was really interesting as she explained how she uses the app as a Product Manager rather than (as you might expect the target of a plugin called Dev Tools) a developer would. I can't say I have used Dev Tools and personally work with Salesforce Inspector Reloaded , it was great to see someone's real world use of another tool.

London's Calling Videos Live

This week the London's Calling calling team have been sharing all the recording's from this year's event to their YouTube channel .

Screenshot of the recording of my session

If you were unable to make the event or like me, were there but unable to make every session, the n this is for you! You can now head over and view all the sessions that were there including my session "Code generation through AI - why it's amazing and why we need to be careful ". As you can see in the screenshot above, I tried to make the session very interactive and built my own generative AI model (ChatPB) using some volunteers/victims from the audience. I really enjoyed the session and have already submitted another fun interactive talk idea for Irish Dreamin next year.

if watching one of the talks here gives you an idea for a session, the Irish Dreamin Call for Speakers is still open.

SFXD Discord

I recently got the chance to speak to Geoffrey Bessereau-Fournier , aka Windyo, the founder of the SFXD Salesforce Discord for the CloudBites Conversations podcast. Many people still do not know there is a very vibrant, welcoming, and active community for Salesforce on Discord, which you can join here .

You can watch the full recording of the podcast here or search CloudBites Conversations in your podcast player of choice to learn more about the Discord, how it got started, the unofficial abridged release notes and much more.

Until next week!

Thank you again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this week's tools, tips and news. Please share with a colleague or friend who you think might find it useful. I will see you next week!
