“Change is the only constant”, someone said in the elevator today and it got me thinking. It is absolutely true, isn’t it?
For good reason, bad reason or sometimes for no reason, things change. Whether you want a change or not, things change. No matter how much you want to hold on to something, things change.
You see, nothing is permanent. Your job, your thoughts, your employer, friends, family, relations and your life, off course. Nothing.
You love your job or your company. You think your colleagues are your best friends. You enjoy working with them, having lunch, tea breaks, some events, fun at work. Everything is great.
“This is my life”, you think.
And one fine day, you are sitting at home, you get a thought, “Where am I going?” Or some other life event triggers this thought.

You realize that you need a change.
To get a raise, a change of location to be close to the family or away from them, you need to get married, your spouse is getting better job at another location etc. The reason can be anything – right or wrong, small or big, but you need to leave the job.
You think you will miss all the things. You think you will be missed a lot too. Yes, the ‘missing’ is there, but not for long. Soon you realize that once you leave, ‘those days’ will be converted into memories. The memories you think you will cherish for lifetime.
Then slowly, those memories start to fade. The calls tend to diminish. The friends become ex-colleagues and WhatsApp group gets only the jokes which you get on other groups anyway, the last day emails with personal contacts move to trash folder.
Someday, someone you know, somewhere in your old bay, looks at the seat which used to be yours, stops for a split second, and moves on!
