Is the traditional method efficient ?
We all have ,around us ,people who have been looking for a job for several months and did not succeed.
The searching method is then always the same :
- find offers
- respond to the offer by sending a résumé and a motivation letter
- wait for answer
Go abroad : the solution ?
Would we have more answers applying abroad in a more dynamic employment area?
Not necessarily if the method does not change...
The human ressources supervisors of the companies also work everywhere in the same way :
- They centralize the needs in recruitment of the company.
- They try to contrast it with the candidacy they receive.
The first selection criteria they will use on most positions is the geographical location of the candidate: Will you hire a salesman of pizza in Paris if your need is in Vancouver?
Continue to lose time ?
Time is enemy number 1 for every person who is trying to find a job.
- Every month lost is a loss of income
- Every month lost is a loss of self confidence
- Every months lost makes us less legitimate to the companies
A famous saying says that " there isn't a fire without smoke" .... If he does not find, it means he is not good.To the eyes of a recruiter, the value of an unemployed person decreases with time.
Stop Failing
Facing failure, we need to ask questions about ourself, changing the method and taking our fate on into our own hands. This is the project of the entrepreneurial approach.
Favor the direct approach.
The Human ressources professionals are intermediaries. They do not have the power to decide on the recruitment, this power is in the hands of the CEO or to the executive manager. Therefore,it is them we have to convince.
Do not ask ourselves if the company CEO can recuit us : he can most of the time.
So what question do we have to ask him when we are going to contact him?
"Do you seek to export your products to Africa?" will not have the same impact on a manager than " Do you have a job for me?"
In most all cases, the first question will lead to quick answer from the CEO and the second one to none.
Basically asking for oneself, one gets lost ... seeking to help the company and its leader, we have everything to gain.
Use our imagination
To change the paradigm, the questions to ask are:
- How can I help the company to gain money?
- How can help to create wealth?
It is not easy, but often we did not try to look for ideas, observe, study or share with others on this subject. A simple method is to focus on the problems of the leaders that we are targeting:
- Business opportunities and threats in the foreign markets?
- Issues relating to technological innovation?
- Social or regulatory developments?
- Fears and ambitions of the company?
The first contact
The goal is to prepare a first contact that gives us value.
How?
By asking a single question to the leader .... But a question that will lead his first YES to us because it is part of the strategic business issues.
A question whose answer necessarily implies a business interest for a project to build and expand.
The entrepreneurial approach
The objective is therefore to change the method to find work in France or abroad by showing that each of us is able to create value for a company.
To convince we will have to :
- Identify the question with strong immediate technical and economic issues that interest the leaders we target.
- Work our personal marketing to demonstrate our legitimacy on this issue.
- Target and contact the leaders.
- Exchange with them to build a project with them.
This is the entrepreneurial approach.
Would I be able to do it ?
Yes of course .... We can all become entrepreneurs, able to convince the leaders. But beware we all had parents, teachers, doctors in life who can help us. We cannot do it alone.
