Change - Initiated by Chaos, Consolidated by Order
In #earlyyears, every time we introduce something new, the child goes through a period of chaos. Change is challenging and exciting for the child, and then the child starts making sense of the new challenge and brings the chaos to order emerging from the experience with a deep sense of satisfaction.
Recently at a learning session, we were sorting personalities, categorizing into extroverts versus introverts, planners vs the spontaneous and more, leading to much debate in all areas including questions on alignment. What the exercise clearly highlighted was the need to include all types as part of every team, the teams that were diverse in attitudes definitely achieved more.
Newton's first law states that?every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. Inertia is the tendency of all objects to resist any change in motion (speed and direction)?unless a force acts on it to change its speed or direction.
Physics applicable to humanity too!
Experience has shown us that to make any change, it is chaos and madness, that has brute power and with the magnet of a vision can draw people to move very quickly. a way of life for most entrepreneurs.
But to sustain the change, it needs order and method. It needs the organizers.
On the chaos side passion and people rule. On the order team, process and planning govern. A constant chain of alternating periods of these two complementary opposites of madness and method, keeps an enterprise vibrant. Young children incidentally manage this process internally, going through these stages alternately and developing in this process.

Constant chaos could transform constructive change to destructive change. Young children in this state for too long switch off, give up or just burn out. So we introduce learning in incremental doses, giving them time to unravel the chaos. Constant order is bound to lead to boredom. Children in many schools stagnate with absolutely no challenges. Continuous alternating periods of the two are necessary to build learning and build society too.
Chaos is exciting, unaccountable, mysterious and usually a large force, making change happen. But it needs to be followed by a period of consolidation to draw order from the chaos. Without chaos, stagnation is likely. Without order, damage is likely.
Typically, each of us have elements of both but we do have a style that thrives more on one of the 2 states. So when you look for co-founders or leaders, it makes sense to not look only at complementary skills, but complementary styles too.
Within our team at #kreedo we have found distinct alternating styles and it has definitely brought us many periods of chaos and order, leading to scaling as well as intellectual growth.
Change is continuous, essential and inevitable, knowing if you are a change maker or change organizer is helpful. So what is your dominant style, Chaos or Order?
