What last weekend’s snap closure in Victoria and ensuing border closures shows us – is the fragile nature of consumer and business confidence.

Questions of course are being asked of government for transparency in decision making. But for many small businesses, the loss of Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year (as well as racing at Flemington and the Australian Open), and knock-on effect to florists, restaurants, and domestic tourism has many business owners saying – ‘how on earth can I plan for this?’

JobKeeper is about to end and yet many businesses have an inconsistent outlook. In this edition of Handpicked, I focus on the importance of discipline and the value of marketplaces. How it shapes success, and assists in times of turbulence.

In my blog, I ask whether you understand your true customer acquisition cost (CAC)? A critical element for any business no matter its size. Whilst changes to the social media platforms are being discussed at length, this is causing many business owners and marketers further anxiety.

My blog and chosen reading in this edition are designed to provide resources to support business decisions, and discipline in an everchanging world.

Also, I wanted to share a wonderful story of courage and determination as the BRG leadership team accompanied Oscar on his journey to the top of Mount Kosciuszko – his discipline and resilience is simply inspiring. The photos say it all.

Time really is of the essence in everything we do. People are getting busier, yet days aren’t getting any longer. So be disciplined and ensure, you make the most of your time.
