Change is Here to Stay.

Change is Here to Stay.

"Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by discomforts."

-?Arnold Bennett.

Problems lead to Solutions, Solutions lead to Change, Change leads to Problems,?and the cycle never ends.

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus is credited with the idea that?the only constant in life is Change. Everything changes, and nothing remains still.?

He wrote, "You cannot step twice into the same stream.?No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river, and he's not the same man."

We can not control the storm, but if we have the will, we have the power to adjust our sails.

Anyone who still does not accept climate change, the scientific reasons behind it, and the impact it is having on the world is either in denial or posturing.?But that is for another post.

Ignorance and arrogance are unfortunate characteristics of Change deniers. Maintaining the status quo is a fallacy. Ignoring the certainty of Change has led to hundreds of thousands of business and relationship failures.

Fifty-two percent of the companies on the Fortune 500 list in 2000 are gone. According to available data, 32 percent of marriages end in divorce within 10 years.?So much for being too big to fail; until death do we part.

Friday afternoon, Moe and I were in an Apple store, and within an hour, I witnessed at least 20 purchases of the latest Apple phones.

According to Wired, "It's not just?the best-selling gadget ever created: It's probably the most influential one, too. Since Steve Jobs announced the?iPhone?in 2007, Apple has sold close to 1.5 billion of them, creating giant businesses for app developers and accessory makers and reimagining how we live."?

"Millions of people use an iPhone as their only computer. As well as their only camera, GPS device, music player, communicator, clock, trip planner, sex finder, and payment tool. It put the world in our pockets."

"The iPhone Effect goes far beyond smartphones. To make so many phones, Apple and its competitors set up huge, whirling supply chains worldwide. Those same manufacturers now make the same parts to power drones, smart-home gadgets, wearables, and self-driving cars.?They don't look like your phone, but they might not be here without it."

In an article about the changes in college football this season, ESPN columnist?David Hale writes, "Change can be scary." It's easy to look around at the college football landscape in 2024 - realignment, playoff expansion, NIL, the portal, lawsuits, Michigan's offense - and think the whole thing's gone haywire."?

He continues:?"Yet?Saturday offered us a vivid reminder that Change can be a good thing. It can be refreshing, rewarding, and exhilarating. It can show us a path forward we never would've imagined, but once it exists, we wonder how we ever lived another way."

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."?

-?Charles Darwin
