A Change Is As Good As A Holiday

Two months in working for an events agency and I can’t tell how much of a difference the change has made.

To be learning something new every single day feels like it’s my ‘get out of jail free’ card during lockdown.?

It’s a privilege to be busy, I 100% appreciate that. I am very thankful to be motivated, inspired, and able to have a good laugh at the moment.

The last few months have not been without learning experiences though!?

Like trying to impress the Veritas Events production team by dropping in some newly learned digital lingo and getting it wrong; I’ve stopped trying on that front and now just have a laugh and ask them to tell me what it is!?Lower thirds, bumpers anyone?

Or when I dialed the wrong mobile number calling a client about a Virtual End of Year Celebration last week.

The lovely stranger at the end of the phone thought I was a telemarketer. It was such a nice surprise when they told me to “Fudge Off”. (It was more explicit than that but no need to go there).?Do you know what I did? I was stunned for about 10 seconds, then dialed the right number and kept going….it made a great weekend story to friends, and we got the business. ?

Or how I tore a ligament in my finger joint, so currently must wear a splint for 7 weeks. It’s making typing a challenge and I really wasn’t thoroughly checking some emails ….my gosh, missed or auto-checked words can REALLY change a written message.?Certainly, makes for a laugh!

As for haircare??Let’s just say my hairdresser is sick of me calling for advice and I’ve had to embrace some DIY options. I’m loving the balayage look. I’m sure you may be too. It’s such a youthful style right now and you can see it on the trendy young ones everywhere.

There is much more I could go on about, but I’ll check myself here because in a nutshell, everything has made me laugh and it feels so good to be learning and striving and trying.

And we see so many other people are doing this and it’s awesome.

I had an ex-agency contact whom I’ve lunched with when I was a hotelier reach out this week. She is now working for a hotel group – talk about role reversal!
