Be The Change

“Change is the only constant”, a quote by famous Greek Philosopher Heraclitus is well known amongst all, and I would like to share few thoughts around “Change”. Entire world is witnessing events which are happening for the first time in the history, countries announcing complete lockdown and out of awareness, fear and self-protection people are strictly adhering to same.

It’s been a week that I have been and most of the people in India are under #21DaysLockdown.

Talking about schools, as far as I know, in India most of the schools are leveraging technologies to their fullest. My 10 year one is having her Outlook calendar booked for entire morning for a session on each subject for an hour. She started checking my Outlook and comparing number of hours we spent in meetings per day. Who would have thought that things which we started using, we as an IT professional, is going to be used by kids and they are so comfortable with using video calls, calendar, emails and submitting homework online? What a change and adaption of it.

Looking around us, how we get delivery of milk and grocery, how we adapted social distancing while outside. Now, all of us are working from home and our communication frequency and pattern have drastically changes, talking about myself, I spent almost my entire day connecting with people over Skype and Phone, and as and where possible encourage people to turn on video to have human-connection with each other.

Gandhiji said, “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. We need not wait to see what others do.”

What a profound reflection on change, it’s not about changing entire society’s behavior nor its about controlling your own. In a very simple terms, we need to change the way we think. Change is putting us out of our comfort zone and as per human tendencies we start with resisting change. Let’s accept it and make the best out of it, its about thoughts and then behavior will follow. You do your part of dealing with change and I do mine, soon the world will be welcoming new ways of life.

Would love to hear what one change that you have implemented in your life due to this #21DaysLockdown ?

Folks, #StayHomeStaySafe and #BeAdaptive !!!

Well said Dhwanit Shah ! Indeed we are a part of a change that’s historic in it’s own way.. I’m spending more time with my four year old now and am thrilled to see his passion for planes and cars already. Working on adding some technology flavour to my skill set and I have never cooked so much ?? On the lighter side, I’ve saved all that I spend on my Uber commute and cafeteria ??

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on change. A nice read!!! Well lot of things around me have changed/are changing.. One major change that probably many are facing during this lockdown is #workfromhome. The way we have been accustomed to work is to meet the team, talk to them, walk to their desks to have casual conversations, sometimes go on Tea/Coffee breaks and Celebrate events together But now, every communication happens on Emails, Skype or Phone, that human element of meeting in person is missing, that human aspect of bonding is missing and that is what I am trying to adapt too.. This lock down might become a template for future to enable work from home for all associates and it is time that we all gear up for the same.
