Change in Customs
Please be indulgent with the French to English translation. I did it myself.
During 2019 and 2020, two people changed the population of Quebec. Unfortunately, we have bitterly forgotten this tour de force and that is why I want to resurrect it.
Rooted in our Western ways and customs, we have not learned, like the Asians, to respect the health of those around us. Wearing a mask to protect ourselves or better to protect others has never been part of our ways.
Whether wearing a mask is good protection or not, it does not matter. It is the concept of protecting others that concerns me.
At the very beginning of the pandemic, these two men sought out the government procedures manual to guide them through what never happened in their lifetime. They found that they had to write the manual while teaching it to the public. The reader should not forget that when these two people exposed themselves to television, it was to teach the population, ALL the population, the best educated and the least educated. Here is a chart that shows the magnitude of the challenge:
The speech of these two men had to be adapted so that everyone can understand. 10% of 8?million people in Quebec, that’s near a million people who won’t understand if we don’t use enough popularization. This without counting those who believe themselves above all, and that in any case, there is nothing to do with them.
At the time, I lived on ?le d’Orléans, near Quebec City, and these nice people, mainly farmers, couldn’t care less about wearing a mask and, therefore, the health of others. A western world par excellence. Dr. Arruda had to change morals even to the detriment of his actions (which were largely ridiculed by many stupid Quebecers). Sometimes I feel a little ashamed of my nation. In Quebec, we are so subject to others, especially the Americans, that we forget that we are really very good and the big mouths do not tire of babbling negatively simply that it is much easier than to praise and especially that it is good for TV ratings.

Many serious and innocuous inventions have been made in Quebec. We should document them. We would finally be proud.
I would like to draw your attention to the fantastic dance show “Revolution”. What a marvel! There are excellence, camaraderie, beauty, creativity and perseverance. I am talking about the sixth art. Moreover, the Revolution format was acquired in China by Hunan?TV17, in Lithuania by LNK18, in Russia by Channel?119, as well as in France, Spain, and Poland?20.13. The American show “So You Think You Can Dance” also inaugurated an image capture system similar to that of “Revolution” in 2019-21. In Quebec, we are not all idiots.
By the way, I find it unfortunate that all these right-thinking political analysts, once the pandemic wave has partly passed, are attacking the election promises of the political party “Coalition Avenir Québec” (CAQ) which swept the vote in 2018, are foolishly forgetting that there has been a pandemic and that the election promises of the day have become simply negligible. Congratulations to these stupid and indiscriminate Quebecers, to these stage managers who only criticize after the fact. Easy, easy. You are being paid to do this!!
My patriotic frustration having passed, I turn to the positive. At the beginning of the pandemic, masks were promoted with varying degrees of conviction. Arruda did not hide from it, we must admit. But he was forced to admit that in the absence of anything else (I forget the plotters who do not know what they are talking about, especially those who believe that the earth is flat. Pufff), the mask was better than NOTHING. They had to write the famous book of anti-pandemic procedures. Mr. Arruda and Mr.?Legault had to change the habits of our society. As far as I am concerned, it was a complete tour de force. These two men should be officially honoured.
Today, no one is offended to see people wearing masks, for whatever reason. We have moved a little in a direction towards respect for others. BRAVO to these two characters.
