Change the Channel, Change Your Perspective

News cycles are such that certain topics are described ad nauseum for two days and are forgotten. The death of Anna Nicole Smith received as much press as the death of a world leader.

Is she remembered at this time? She was in a Guess Jeans ad, married someone very, very old, her son died and she passed one year later. Except for an appearance in The Naked Gun 33 1/3 little else resonates.

At this point I have no recollection of Avatar. I anticipated this movie, enjoyed it wen I saw it and couldn't tell you anything about it. Some concepts stick with you. There are those who pretend The Capitol Insurrection was a regular tourist visit.

I visited the Capitol Building years ago. Relatives were in town and we were sightseeing. There was art and great architecture there. What did I not see? A gallows. I cannot hear the name "Mike Pence" without recalling white men chanting to hang him.

Which is why I have not watched the news today. While waiting for an oil change there was a television in the lounge. A father with two daughters was there. They turned on a rather annoying cartoon.

While I might have liked these children if they were at the park with my sister's children who play with anyone in their line of sight; hearing them and a loud cartoon I never liked inspired me to tune it out. That did not last so I took a walk.

Upon returning they were not there. I picked up the remote and looked for something else. Anything, really. Home shopping was not a good choice nor movies with twenty minute commercial breaks.

I found NHK Daily. This is a news show that looks like the BBC. They mentioned the Insurrection Anniversary in one segment. They also mentioned it is snowing in Tokyo. That is uncommon and more fascinating that talking heads on American news saying someone is RIGHT or WRONG.

Divided America might be good for ratings. It does nothing for civilized society. One program aggravated me and I found something more suitable until my business was completed. Don't settle for what is in front of you and don't watch bad programming.
