Change The Career Story In Your Head To Get Job Offers

Change The Career Story In Your Head To Get Job Offers

If you struggle to turn interviews into offers, the culprit is often the career story you tell yourself in your head.

The career story in your head is similar to the story you tell in interviews and on your resume.

I often hear this from candidates when they tell me "How can I change my story - It is what it is." These candidates ignore that different things are important to different employers, even when you're searching for the same type of job.

Here are a couple of ways you can improve the career story in your head, so you'll improve the story you tell employers:

  1. The Things That Are Most Important To You Are Rarely The Most Important To Employers:?Your potential employers doesn't care about why you're qualified (everyone they interview is qualified) or what you're proud of. They care if you can prove that you'll improve their team's performance while solving their biggest problems.
  2. Your Story Needs To Adapt To Employer Needs:?Your next employer cares if you've successfully solved their problems, not what you feel you're best at. Since each employer has different needs, you need to adapt your story to that employer's needs.
  3. Your Story Shouldn't Be An Autobiography ... It Should Prove Success:?Describing your responsibilities makes you appear average to employers. Proving your success makes you the candidate the employer needs to hire.

Most job seekers have a difficult time rewriting the story in your head, because you're too close to it to see that there are more effective ways to describe your career.

Wouldn't it be better if you could learn how to change the story in your head, that you tell during interviews and resumes, so you can show employers how great you'll be at doing the job? I'll show you what to change in your resume/interview/job search strategy to improve your interviews, show employers that you're great at your job, turn more interviews into offers and land your next job fast.

This is the 3rd job market recession/recovery cycle I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recovering job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recovery job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers every week since mid-March 2020.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I see the mistakes that almost every age 40+ job seeker makes that make them lose great opportunities. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process. You're probably making similar mistakes, without realizing it.

But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome ageism for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than appearing average. I'll show you how to beat ageism and find a great job during a bad job market by understanding employers' points of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been an active top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can beat ageism during a highly competitive job market, even if you're also between jobs, trying to change careers, industry or location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
