The Chancel Arch at St. Andrew's, Bolam, Northumberland

Behind the Romanesque chancel arch at St. Andrew's, Bolam, Northumberland are the voussoirs to the former apse arch patterned with the saltire cross.

It is a place that has grown incrementally over time - the material thread unbroken.

For a few hours of unadulterated bliss I sat in the nave and finished a watercolour of the chancel arch and side aisle.

?? For the churchcrawlers, the historians, the archaeologists and architecture lovers - a limited edition print is now available of my watercolour of St. Andrew, Bolam in the parish of Belsay, Northumberland. More information here.
