Champions of LinkedIn

Champions of LinkedIn

You're here because your ideal market hangs out on LinkedIn and you want to know how to reach them more effectively and create greater impact in the world.

Your current knowledge and skills on LinkedIn have got you this far but both LinkedIn and buyer behaviour is constantly changing so you want to use the best approaches with the time you have available. Or the approaches you've used so far may have taken you down a dead end of little traction or success resulting in low confidence and disillusionment that it's really possible for you to find new clients on LinkedIn.

You need some easily accessible strategies that you can implement immediately to see an uplift in what you're doing on here and get a boost to continue building momentum.

The Champions of LinkedIn Newsletter introduces you to mini systems and strategies that not only work quickly but can be repeated on a consistent basis to create wins.

There are five key areas I work on with clients to generate daily leads and weekly clients on LinkedIn; Positioning, Profile, Publishing, People and Processes. A small shift in any one of these areas can create a wave of interest and inbound leads.

In today's issue we're looking at how small intentional outcomes drive behaviour and results.

Repetition Without Meaning Becomes Monotonous

For too long LinkedIn Members have worked through their daily LinkedIn routine with little to no thought of how they might convert those actions into meaningful revenue for their business.

Connect

Comment

Content

Repeat

These are great strategies but on their own will rarely convert into tangible growth for your businesses, yet it does zap the life blood out of you, working relentlessly everyday with little return. I totally get it when people say to me 'I've given up on LinkedIn - I worked hard at it and it didn't work!'

Connect The Dots and Go Deeper

  • If we only make new connections because we think a large network is the way to win new clients on LinkedIn, we're drastically missing the point.
  • If we're endlessly clocking on to LinkedIn to comment and engage we'll jeopardise the growth of our business because we're not connecting the dots.
  • If we only post so that we up the anti on our visibility because we know a top of mind strategy is essential to be in with a chance of converting clients we'll write for conversion and not for relationship.

And we'll soon get dispirited and stop the routine altogether

The intention of all your activity on LinkedIn is to start conversations with people you know you can impact with your service so you have the opportunity to go deeper and begin building a relationship that has the potential to lead to a sale.

So here's a straight to the point strategy, for converting clients on LinkedIn.

This is a first step, simple strategy you can do EVERYDAY and it doesn't take forever!

The KEY is to think about putting your new connections into an ecosystem of touchpoints and value. Yes, it's going to be a slower start, but as you do this continually you'll begin to benefit from the momentum your building because you will be nurturing people who are actually in the arena for you solving their problems now or in the near future.

1. Personalise everything

Did you know if you personalise a LinkedIn invite you're 30% more likely to receive an acceptance to connect?

Why?

  • You're giving them a positive reason to connect [or not giving them a negative reason to reject!]
  • You're showing you've taken time to do your research [could be a 5 second action]
  • You're making it about them and not pitching before you've even connected
  • They feel safer to connect and not anxious you'll spam them

QUICK TIP

Research can be as a quick as a glance at their profile, content or comments to find a common area or point of interest.

Find some commonality between the two of you to begin a journey together then ask: 'Are you open to connect?

See? Simples!

2. Always Communicate

If a new connection has taken the time to accept your invitation the least you can do is respond!

In a real life, face to face networking scenario if somebody reached out to speak to you and connect you wouldn't ignore them, you'd respond. LinkedIn is no different.

There are several ways on LinkedIn to do this and I have a personal favourite.

  1. Write a response
  2. Voice note
  3. Video

Most people respond with a written note. Nothing wrong with that but the LinkedIn Inbox can easily get cluttered and your message lost.

This is an introduction to someone new so personally I feel a video is coming on a little strong, but voice notes are my sweet spot.

Why?

  • Because they show up differently in their inbox - a long blue box
  • It shows your personality
  • And it's a great positioner

You will only find voice notes on your LinkedIn mobile app:

> Go to where you would normally write a message

> Hold down the mic icon

> You have up to 60 seconds to share

> Release your finger and send

SIMPLES!

3. Involve Your connections with a tag

Once a week I make the practice of tagging all my new connections in a post written specifically for them. This is typical of what I say in a comment...

'Hey, new connections, great to be connected. I'd love your thoughts on this...'

Then you tag them using the @ key and LinkedIn populates their name.

The small interactions like this in comments and your inbox start to build awareness and familiarity PLUS if they engage with your content or messages, LinkedIn will show them more of your content!

What's not to love?

We'll have more on developing this strategy in future issues of Champions of LinkedIn

What I loved this week:

This week my clients and I were talking about money mindsets. As we grow our businesses it's often that we hit a mindset or two and the money one seems to come up regularly for many. I was privileged enough to be gifted this book by Catherine Morgan who also has a podcast called 'In Her Financial Shoes'... both worth a read and a listen. Catherine is incredibly practical, open and caring.

Another book that has come highly recommended on this subject was the Soul of Money by Lynne Twist. I've yet to read it so would love to know your thoughts if you have!
