A Chambers Tour: Part Two
A Chambers Tour
www.JudgeBernstein.org
What is it like behind the doors of justice?
This post is the second installment of a chambers tour, a guide to the objects that surround one judge as he works.
One of the objects you will see on the chambers’ wall is a large, framed photograph of a stack of motions.
This stack was an exhibit in the Meridian Fire case. It purports to demonstrate untimely motions for summary judgment.
Although the motions as photographed appear to be the height of the Empire State Building, in fact they were only 2? feet tall.
2? feet of untimely motions is quite enough.
Visit www.JudgeBernstein.org for selected publications and opinions and important links, including the first two chapters of my new novel, The Trials of a Common Pleas Judge.
Here’s an excerpt from Chapter Two, “And to Everyone’s Surprise”:
“Imagine the shock I saw in Judge Bachmann’s face as he slowly realized that I was fully in control of all my senses and not in any respect suffering any delusions. He went to his desk, picked up the evening Bulletin, and showed me the date on the masthead, which read July 3, 1913.”

I am publishing the novel on JudgeBernstein.org in serial form, chapter by chapter.
Watch for Chapter Three on June 1, 2016!
Sincerely,
The Hon. Mark I. Bernstein
