In challenging times, we find our strength in each other

Wherever we are in the world, we’ve watched the last weeks unfold with anxiety and concern as Covid-19 has spread into every corner of our lives. Almost overnight, everything has changed. With lockdowns in place all over the globe, it’s easy to feel isolated and alone.

But in challenging times, we also see something magical. Neighbours, friends and strangers are coming together to remind us that we’re all part of a community.

Everyone has something to contribute – from local volunteers checking that elderly neighbours have what they need, to well-known figures such as Joe Wicks in the UK giving virtual PE lessons to one million children via YouTube, to the European Space Agency bringing together astronauts, artists and scientists to give advice on how to cope with isolation.

At Avon, we’re a company built on relationships. We’re proud to be a global community of women, their families, friends and customers. It’s been heartening to see these relationships in action during the current situation. Representatives are strengthening virtual connections with each other and their customers to keep their businesses up and running. And we’re doing everything we can to support and empower them.

Whether it’s supporting our Representatives to keep their businesses going, supplying soap and sanitiser to local medical and health services, or supporting front-line charities and services, we are here for her and for her community. We’re taking action to ensure our five million Representatives have guidance on best practice hygiene and preventive measures, care and protocols to help fight the spreading of Covid-19, including the importance of regularly handwashing with soap and water. We’re keeping in touch virtually with Representatives, giving them tips on running a business online as well as keeping their spirits up. And we are there for our employees too, focusing on well-being and staying connected with virtual webinars, trainings and coffee breaks.

We’re all in this together.

Avon is proud to stand for safe and healthy lives for all. We’d previously committed to donate $10m to women’s charities this year from Avon and the Avon Foundation. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ll be going over and above our initial commitment.

As we continue in uncertain and worrying times, we need to keep working together, supporting each other and looking out for each other. Every woman in our movement is an individual – but she is also part of a family and a community. We’re standing together and supporting each other.
