A Challenging but Rewarding Meeting with Our UK Client
Yesterday afternoon at 2 PM, I had a significant meeting at a hotel in Shenzhen with clients from the UK to discuss our third-party inspection services for LED lights. The meeting lasted an hour, and by the end, I was quite exhausted. Here’s why:
1. Midday Fatigue: In China, taking a nap after lunch is a common practice. After consuming a carbohydrate-rich lunch (which can make you sleepy), I drove for an hour to the client's hotel and jumped straight into the meeting. My mind was still in a foggy state, and my reactions were sluggish.
2. Intense Client Scrutiny: I didn't expect the clients to be so thorough and professional. In the hotel cafe, the three of them meticulously reviewed our third-party inspection report for a batch of LED Lights, page by page. They asked detailed questions about the AQL sampling levels, why we sample 80pcs for aging tests, why we only inspect 9pcs for workmanship, and why we test only 2pcs for IES photometry. Additionally, they delved into our factory risk assessment process, how we control RoHS compliance, and our protocol for handling labeling errors both for the current and future batches.
Thankfully, the clients expressed satisfaction with my key responses.
My Takeaway:
When your answers are grounded in facts rather than fabrication, even if your mind is foggy, your responses remain truthful. And it is the truth that resonates most with clients. I am very grateful for this meeting opportunity. The clients' professionalism and meticulousness showed me that they truly value quality, aligning with our own principles, making them potential top-tier clients. However, if I have another meeting at 2 PM, I’ll be sure to avoid a heavy carb lunch.
