A challenging project for our customer G?ttgens Industriearmaturen GmbH

Sometimes projects for customers reach us in unusual ways. For larger orders, it is common for the end customer, in this case Siemens Energy, to commission inspectors to monitor the acceptance process at the companies involved in a product. When the company Industriearmaturen G?ttgens GmbH from Würselen near Aachen was looking for a coater for stainless steel valves, the inspector recommended us, as we had already worked together successfully on several occasions.

This project, called Pluto, has two special features: The temperature range of -196°C to 540°C and the fact that the valve is made of stainless steel. The latter is admittedly not that unusual, it just means that you have to blast free of ferrite so as not to introduce rust into the surface. No problem for us, as we can reliably remove iron particles from the blasting material thanks to a magnetic roller in the blasting medium preparation.

The coating material, on the other hand, which can cover the required temperature range, comes from the manufacturer PPG and involves special processing requirements. We are happy to take on this challenge because the support from PPG is very good. So after the pre-job meeting with all the companies involved and the definition of an internal test plan, we set about the Coating Procedure Test CPT, which is mandatory for such highly stressed components. For this, we produced the familiar NORSOK M501 test plate, but this time in stainless steel.

Once our employees had completed the CPT and all companies were satisfied with the result, we were able to start coating the Pluto valves. Another challenging project in which we were able to fully utilise our strengths - just as we like it.
