Challenging Myself

A fun adventure and new challenge awaits in 71 days.
Being in a profession that doesn't always lend itself to physical work - I try to stay active through walking, riding my bike, and exercise. However, it is easy to let this slip and fall into habits of studying all the time. Deadlines and projects like my Masters Degree can sidetrack balance - and I don't think that is a good thing.
So, I decided that in the midst of all my obligations and work - I would take on a physical challenge to force my training and set a fun objective to accomplish. Something unique and interesting.
A few years back I did an ultra marathon called "The Great Walk" - which as the name suggests is really a very long (63.5Km) walk from Gold River to Tahsis, BC. My pace was pretty good and I finished in the top 25 out of 160 or so runners/walkers. Since then, I have wanted to return and attempt to beat my 10h34m time - I was stopping along the way to take pictures which I somewhat regret :)
Now, instead of the Great Walk - I am going to do the "Great Climb" - known as the Kusam Klimb out of Sayward, BC. https://www.kusamklimb.com/index.php
This is a 23Km race/walk/climb that will test my abilities to climb up the side of a mountain, get back down the other side, and run/walk as quickly as I can while doing it!

9 年I think the challenge will be the first 7Km up to 1482. It's roped in some places, so that will help. Apparently, it's also roped coming down - which will likely be harder than going up in some cases. I better make sure to practice hiking a bit before I go. I have a time in my head to complete this task...we'll see :)
