Growing up, we were all told to follow certain rules and superstitions, like:
“Don’t pass under the ladder,”
“Don’t cut your nails at night,”
“Never question God's ways,” and
“Avoid learning from non-believers.”
These warnings were part of our upbringing, shaping how we approached life. But as you grow older, you begin to understand your own faith more deeply. It’s not about following these rules blindly, but rather about being a strong, thoughtful believer who knows what they stand for.
One day, while browsing through a list of movies, I came across a title that caught my eye: "The Man Who Sued God." Now, if I were with my family, they would probably say “Astaghfirullah”—asking Allah for forgiveness—and move past it without a second thought. But being someone who likes to explore and question, I decided to take a closer look.
The film’s plot was fascinating: a former lawyer, now a fisherman, has his boat destroyed by lightning, and when his insurance company denies his claim, calling it an "Act of God," he decides to sue both the insurance company and God (represented by churches).
I paused for a moment, wondering if watching this film could be seen as encouraging sinful thoughts. But my curiosity won out, and I decided to watch it anyway, eager to see where it would lead.
