Hi. I am Creative Curt. Welcome to another edition of “Why Some People Win,” a career newsletter providing helpful tips and tricks for building an amazing career and having authentic professional relationships.
This week, we are discussing Challenges and Success. Enjoy the read. Be sure to let me know your thoughts by posting in the comments!
Change your Mindset about Challenges
We all face challenges, both personally and professionally. Whether we are competing with several colleagues for a promotion or dealing with the loss of a close family member or friend, we all are affected by the ups and downs of life. Always remember, you are not alone. If you look for help and support, you will most certainly find it.
Work Challenges
We cannot please everyone, no matter how "good" or "perfect" we appear to be. Learning to manage expectations and navigate personalities is not easy, but they are good skills to develop. Sometimes, people will work to undermine our efforts. Let's face it, Haters are everywhere. However, they can allow us to focus more, work around the obstacles they may throw in our path and give us the opportunity to continue doing our best work. Flexing your adaptation muscles will do wonders in this situation. Your approach will show your colleagues that you are dedicated and committed to completing a project or task regardless of what obstacles pop up. Plus, your dedication may rub off and encourage others to shine too. After all, it is all about the team effort.?
I ask you to look at your challenges as opportunities and get out of your comfort zone. Often in life, our problems do not get easier. We try, fail, learn, and try again. This process allows us to grow and take on larger, more complex problems with greater ease.
Change your Mindset about Success
Success is not defined by your paycheck. It is defined by the person you become along the way. The journey is important, not just the destination. For example, just doing this short, weekly LinkedIn newsletter is challenging for me. I have an accounting background and we all know accountants make great writers…. LOL. Despite my concerns, I am pushing forward, and hopefully helping others along the way. Although I am not a corporate executive, my perspective matters. Regardless of your level, you matter and you can contribute to your communities.
?This Week's Challenge
This week, ask yourself:
“Am I challenging myself enough on a consistent basis?”
“Am I volunteering to lead the meeting at work or take on new projects?”
“How many people did I help this week?”
“Am I growing? Am I learning from my setbacks?”
Get involved in a new project. Have that conversation you've been putting off. See what happens. You might fail. You might succeed. But either way, you will grow.
Thank you for reading my snack-sized newsletter. Please feel free to comment and share. If you have topics that you would like my thoughts on, please send me a direct message on my LinkedIn Profile.
Stay Blessed,
