We all come across such situations especially at the start of our career when our minds are clouded with thoughts and we find it difficult to decide which career path to take or which job to go for or which organisation to choose from
Most of the Pakistani graduates are pushed into job market with the idea of securing a place in any of the organisations simply to get a job due to peer pressure or financial constraints or economic downturn.
Thanks to our local universities who missed to emphasize on the significance of career counselling and placement.Only few reputable universities take the ownership of their graduates by directing them to better opportunities. The rest of them are left to decide on their own or rely on their personal connections.
But the challenge doesn’t end here as you pursue your career, you will completely find it difficult to create a link between academia and industry.
Yes you read it right
The corporate world works differently and so most of us find the first two years of our career pretty challenging in terms of environment, people and work demands.
I can totally relate to that as how I felt completely out of place for the first few years of my job in the capacity of Management Trainee-HR in one of the reputable engineering company.Though I was a good medalist at my university and academically was very bright.Even secured a job on merit with the idea of HR would be all about taking interviews ,hiring people and making connections.
But everything worked differently right from the way we speak to people, drafting emails and making presentations. Infact our idea of corporate world is mostly created by watching movies or series or reading books which is really different from the reality.
Nobody has ever told us at university about how to speak to management?
How to pitch a brilliant idea?
How to negotiate?
How to set goals?
How to devise strategies?
However, corporate survival is all about these things. I literally struggled to get to know the basics but I learned over period of time.
So if you are in the same boat and willing to know the secrets of becoming a truly HR person then inbox me your queries and I will assist you.
