The challenges of Higher Education from an interregional point of view: OBREAL Global in “Camino a FIESA”
South-south-north cooperation between universities, virtualisation and digitalisation in higher education or the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are some of the issues being addressed this September 11th and 12th at the “Camino a FIESA” conference being held at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín, in Buenos Aires
The aim of these conferences is to begin a series of discussions on policy and trends in the internationalization of Higher Education. All of it, in order to prepare for the FIESA event that will be held next year in Argentina.
Hence, the title of the event: on the road to FIESA. A road that begins today in Buenos Aires and ends on March 19th, 2024 in Puerto Iguazú, in the province of Misiones. There, the International Higher Education Fair of Argentina will be held until March 22nd. A new location that perfectly embodies the values of FIESA.
The region of Misiones is distinguished by its diversity, not only at an environmental level but also cultural, by its respect and care for the environment and by its commitment to sustainability. These are values that put this region at the forefront of the great challenges of our time.
The coordinator of the internationalization programme of the Argentinian Ministry of Education, Anahí M. Astur , says that the main goal of “Camino a FIESA” it’s to generate a preliminary debate on the axes that will be?addressed in greater depth at FIESA 2024 in Misiones. It is an excellent opportunity, she says, to bring together strategic partners and continue the dialogue that has been built on the issues of higher education and internationalisation.
An interregional perspective
Among these challenges that we all face, there is that of interregional cooperation. And this is where OBREAL Global, together with its strategic partners such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Association of African Universities (AAU), plays a key role.?

Anahí M. Astur emphasises the importance of this role. In a world that is connected more than ever – she says – the solutions to our problems can’t be individual. Astur states that space like Camino a FIESA are “enriching for all participants because they allow, from different point of views, to exchange knowledge, share good practices, explore opportunities and generate collaborative projects”.
With a vision based on the relationship between regions, OBREAL Global aims to promote a dialogue in which the heterogeneity of each of these regions is a priority. An aim and a vision that are based on the values of innovation, inclusiveness, diversity, sustainability and multilingualism.
This is the perspective provided by OBREAL Global’s Director of Development and Strategy, Nicolas Patrici . He coordinated this Monday the first conversation of the meeting in which the challenge of promoting south-south-north cooperation within universities was analysed.
