Challenges for high-performing teams: The Cadence Approach Spotlight

Challenges for high-performing teams: The Cadence Approach Spotlight

How’s your 2024 going so far? If it’s anything like mine, it’s going quickly!

We’ve had a fast start to the year, delivering keynotes for companies including Iptor / GENII Software Group , Oxbow Partners and Artifax Software . We’ve also booked two keynotes for 2025 and are currently booking as far as September this year.?

The challenges our content and ideas are responding to include managing multigenerational teams, fostering belonging and connection (especially in the age of remote and hybrid working and AI), and maintaining stress resilience in high performing teams.?

I’m curious though; are these the challenges you’re facing, either as an individual or as an HR/People professional? Do let us know.

On the subject of stress resilience, I recorded a podcast at the end of last year with Warren Munson on the Evolve to Succeed podcast. It’s packed with practical tips including for strength, health, energy, mood and motivation, so feel free to check that out. And if you find that your New Year’s Resolutions are starting to ebb away, remember the simple tip called ‘never miss twice’. If you do miss a day, just make sure you don’t miss the next day…. That’s basically it! I’ve tried this and it works – never miss twice.

All the best for now,

Leanne

Why it’s important to have a wellbeing framework

The image in the header of this newsletter is my wellbeing framework. A wellbeing framework is a structure we can use to assess and enhance different aspects of our overall wellness. By evaluating these components, such as physical, mental and emotional health and social relationships, the framework helps to guide our decision-making process and resource allocation to improve the overall quality of life.

My wellbeing framework is built around strength, health, energy, mood and motivation. And I’ve been thinking about what one, two, or maybe three small actions I’ll take to improve in each of those key areas. You’ve likely heard me talk before about the aggregation of marginal gains: and how the little things add up to have a big impact over time.

Workplace Wellbeing & A Better 2024

For many of us, the start of a new year presents an opportunity to set new goals and determine a path to a happier, healthier, and more successful life. Which is why Warren invited me along as his first guest of 2024 on his podcast (you can listen to the full episode above). I’ve dedicated the last 12+ years to improving the health and performance of teams.

I am also sharing some of the key things I discussed in this episode with Warren in a limited series of blogs. Part 1 is all about my own experience with burnout and how I got into wellbeing, particularly in the workplace.

Part 2: Burnout Signs, Causes & Prevention

Part 2 I delve deeper into burnout signs, causes and prevention using my signature Cadence Approach.

Modern Wisdom: Debunking the Internet's Biggest Health Myths

Having spent 12+ years in this space, I know how much misinformation there is online surrounding health and wellbeing. And this makes it particularly difficult to spot good advice amongst all the utter nonsense.

Luckily, there are medical professionals out there who want to help. I recently discovered this podcast hosted by surgeon, clinical lecturer, and author, Dr Karan Rajan , covering everything from polyphasic sleep patterns to probiotics and digestion to separate medical fact from science fiction.

The Coming Wave by Mustafa Suleyman

Mustafa Suleyman is the co-founder of DeepMind and Inflection AI. He is at the very centre of the AI revolution, and argues that the next decade will be defined by this wave of powerful technology that no one is quite prepared for.

In The Coming Wave, Suleyman illustrates how these forces not only promise prosperity, but also threaten the foundation of global order. As governments head towards containment crises, can we walk the narrow line between catastrophe and dystopia?
