“Challenges Frame Opportunities”!
There are days when LinkedIn can feel a little impersonal, which is why it’s so refreshing when folks introduce unique topics or reach out with thought-provoking questions.
Recently I sent a connection request to someone new, and they responded to my invitation with the following query:
“I especially like your headline about “Challenges Frame Opportunities”! It makes me want to ask, and don’t feel obligated to answer since we just “met,” but I’m curious now… what current challenge are you turning into an opportunity?”
This is an excellent question.
“Challenges Frame Opportunities” is a phrase our CEO, Kurt Nielsen Ph.D., uses all the time. He’s also a big fan of “What You Do Matters.” Kurt closes all our meetings with these two statements, which means they’re often at the forefront of my mind.
My main priority is to engage with individuals who have some connectivity to developing and bringing to market new therapies to solve patient ailments. This could include anyone from PE/VC to doctors, scientists, or clinicians. Oncology is a prime example of an area with many unmet needs.
I work at Pii, a Maryland-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). In this line of work, it’s absolutely essential for my coworkers and I to evolve with our growing customer base and their changing needs. Compliance isn’t optional, so we are continually taking on our customers’ challenges as our own and ensuring their needs are met. Whether their drug delivery technology faces technical challenges against aggressive timelines, or our partners come to us with a drug concept, we take them through clinical trials and ultimately commercialize their product.
When our customers approach us, it’s because they’re seeking methods of bringing their products to market faster and more efficiently. Because of this, our scientists end up addressing some of the biggest challenges in the pharma industry. These challenges can include: meeting demanding timelines, providing agile solutions through development and cGMP needs, and simplifying the supply chain of a program.
Pii is an all-inclusive manufacturing provider from formulation development to analytical services to cGMP manufacturing of development and commercial phase programs. The comprehensive nature of this work means the challenges come quickly and often. However, our philosophy and approach allow us to reframe them in a motivating and impactful way.
Maybe that’s TMI, but I love answering a good question!
