Maintaining the confidentiality information of the customers/patients is the most important duty for any laboratory. If not maintained can lead to lawsuits/damage to the laboratory's reputation/loss of business.
I am trying to list some of the challenges a laboratory might face in order to efficiently maintain confidentiality :
1.??????Inadequate access control.
2.??????No appropriate process in place to dispose of confidential documents.
3.??????Lack of secure storage.
4.??????Secure system to share digital documents.
5.??????Lack of staff training on do’s and don’ts when handling confidential documents.
When setting up a laboratory, in order to maintain confidentiality, management needs to invest in having stronger compliance and security measures. Additionally, the laboratory needs to be set up with a necessary process and regular training to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.?Only then this challenge can be mitigated.
