The Challenges Of Ego – Interview Dawn Wray
Tony Brooks (MSc Psych)
Helping Leaders Escape The Mind-Traps Of Survival Thinking | Leadership Psychologist | Exec Coach | Speaker On Survival Psychology | Author On Leadership | TEDX Speaker
My latest podcast episode features an interview with Dawn Wray, who is the first person to appear twice on the Leadership Mindset Podcast Show!
The previous episode featuring Dawn – Therapeutical approaches in leadership and coaching – is here?for you.
Dawn is a Gestalt Psychotherapist and co-founder of The Listening Collective. The Listening Collective provides coaching with a difference. The difference being that all coaches are trained psychotherapists. She also has a private therapeutic practice which she runs from home, or online.
She has recently completed her psychotherapy training, but spent the first 30 years of her career in various Operational roles in Financial Services.
Dawn believes that organisations grow and change when their employees can grow and change. She has specific interest in how individuals create team and culture, and reciprocally how team and culture affect individuals, and how dialogue, relationship and embracing complexity are essential conditions to get unstuck and move forwards.
She values real, honest and authentic conversations, and being human, no matter what situation we are in.
Our intention with this episode is to make you more aware of how Ego can play out and hijack you. The more consciously aware you are, the better choices you can make for yourself and others. Because, whatever your view on Ego (and definition), it can be very toxic!
It is one of the 5 mind-traps in my new book ‘Survival Psychology’ which you can find out more about here.
On the episode, we talked about:
? The relationship between Ego and self-identity
? How Ego can bring shame or a feeling of not being good enough
? Thoughts on competition (and comparison)
? How Ego has external behaviour or front, rather than expressing what is really going on underneath
领英推荐
? How situation and organisational culture plays a part
? The way we feel and what is logical aren’t the same thing and how Ego impacts this
I find exploring Ego and my relationship with this fascinating and I’m sure you do too. If so, this is an episode not to be missed!
