Be Challenged & Lead On with Anupama (Part 8): Groundwork for becoming a High Road Leader!

Today I want to share with you from the latest book that I bought, in fact this is the second copy of the book that I decided to get my hands on. You might ask "Why do I need another copy of the same book?". I gifted the first copy to a High Road Leader whom I met a couple of months ago, I knew that she would be able to bring people together and inspire them to achieve even greater results together. I saw her in acton during the Annual Professional Development Day for members of Project Management Institute (PMI).
Honestly, I have a long way to go before I can say that I am a High Road Leader. John Maxwell says "If you can't work with people who disagree with you, you will never become the leader you could be." I know I am still working on this in my leadership journey. How do I know that I am not yet a High Road Leader?
I came across this chart in the book and I came to the conclusion that I am a Middle-Road Leader and it is time for me to make a shift to becoming a High Road Leader!
Most of us tend to travel in the middle road, where we value a good give and take relationship. For example, if you introduce me to your manager then I will get you introduced to my team member who is crucial for the success of your project. I remember going to networking events in my journey early on as a new entrepreneur and my focus was on those who wanted me to win or be successful. I came across a few amazing leaders who were ready to add value to me and give more than receive. I just could not understand their mindset but now I know they were High Road Leaders!
I believe in SHARED THINKING and want to invite you to be part of an upcoming Mastermind where we will be discussing how to APPLY these lessons in our leadership journey and I will be your Accountability Partner as you take ACTION each week.
The following lessons will be part of our discussion:
(1) Bring People Together
(2) Value All People
(3) Acknowledge Your Humanness
(4) Do The Right Thing For The Right Reasons
(5) Give More Than You Take
(6) Develop Emotional Capacity
(7) Place People Above Your Own Agenda
(8) Embrace Authenticity
(9) Take Accountability For Your Actions
(10) Live By The Bigger Picture
(11) Don’t Keep Score
(12) Desire The Best For Others
My goal is to facilitate this Mastermind for the next 3 months and to continue to host additional Sessions as long as there is interest in being part of my inner circle of influence.
