A Challenge For You
During this time of isolation and quarantine something profound hit me.
We are living a visual and physical representation of what it would look like to be separated from God. I don’t think that the timing of this happening prior to Easter and the fact that we are legally not allowed to gather to celebrate is ironic in the least bit. I think this is a clear call from God.
Every generation experiences some degree of “spiritual distancing” from their Divine Creator, a natural drift from dependence on a higher power. We become self-centered, focused on worldly things that we can’t take with us when we die, and CONSUMED with things that separate us further from God.
Seriously, take a second and think about all of the things that we typically consume that just came to a screeching halt and it’s no longer safe. The gym, a restaurant, a social gathering, shopping in stores, etc. It’s mind-boggling when you think about it.
The question then becomes: What are you replacing that consumption with during this time? More Netflix? More unhealthy addictions or habits?
I have a challenge for you if you’ve stuck with me and gotten this far in my post: If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, get to know him a little. You have no risk in learning at home where no one else knows or can see. Don't know where to start? Just watch a show about Him and learn the historical facts of what He did. For Christians our ground zero for faith is Jesus Christ, the son of God—He became man to show us God. And he died for all of man’s sin so that we would not be separated from God. He reconciled us!
The challenge for those that know Jesus: Go deeper! If you haven’t read the Bible cover-to-cover, do it! I hadn’t and just completed doing it in 90 days. It takes around 45 minutes of time per day. If you have read the Bible, dive deeper into certain books. I love Romans so much and there is so much meat to unpack. Take a spiritual inventory of where you are weak. Our God consciousness through Jesus expressed in humble prayer, grateful worship, loving deeds and generous giving can become inauthentic, even non-existent in the life of Jesus followers and the church.
God has given us all a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to still the world around us and hear from Him! I know there is pain and death in this circumstance. And to be clear, God did not cause this pandemic to happen; man did. However, God is GOOD in everything that occurs; both good and bad.
One verse, in particular, is so powerful in what we face. In fact, it’s been so powerful to me personally that I named my company after it:
Romans 8:28 — “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Lastly, if you'd like an encouraging song for today, jam this and follow/sing the lyrics. It is so timely with what we are going through! King of My Heart

4 年Sean, Thank you for adding some incredible, and inspired perspective, to these times. What a wonderful message to contemplate. We have been granted some freedom from so much that needlessly occupied our time and thought during this crisis. What better way to use this opportunity than to deepen, or begin, a relationship with Christ? Amen, indeed!
