A Challenge from Piaget.

The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done; men and women who are creative, inventive and discoverers, who can be critical and verify, and not accept, everything they are offered.

Re-read Piaget's quote and change "education" to "an educator."

Amidst our trend of more standardized assessment and curriculum, in practical terms, little overlap exists between these two ideologies for the majority of our students. The endeavor to raise the academic bar should be balanced with our fostering of a student's ability to discover, develop, and decide about their own unique future.

Education has the pieces to the puzzle. We all, public and private education, organizations, businesses, programs, and individuals need to work together for the pieces to merge that create a myriad of developing pictures.

Since individuals impact the future, our individual actions are required, and collectively, we impact what is to be.
