A challenge to be BRAVE

A challenge to be BRAVE

I received a tremendous response to last week's "Letter from Linlithgow" when I opened up a discussion about fear and our need to recognise how this affects our actions.

So today I'd like to discuss the much less often talked about subject of bravery.

When I hear the word "bravery" I imagine soldiers in battle or nurses in emergency wards but where is the bravery to be found in the business world?

Bravery a definition:

"the quality or state of having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty."

For me to be successful as an entrepreneur you must show incredible mental strength to face challenges daily. You must display tenacity, accept criticism and listen to those who daily tell you to "give up".

On many occasions, it is those we love the most who utter these words, not because they doubt us but because they do not wish to see us getting hurt.

So where does this bravery come from?

For me, it comes from the clear vision of how delivering on my mission I can improve the world around me. I also believe that I have been created to deliver this vision and like some ancient Greek hero's journey obstacles will be placed in my way that I must overcome to deliver on this mission.

Hence my use of the word "brave".

Grandiose, self-centred, crazy, I accept these words as feedback when I share my vision however I still intend to deliver, do you?

Are you ready to step outside your comfort zone, attend the networking event, work the weekend, speak from the stage, and risk all?

Be brave, reach out for support, don't give up and you will succeed.

Ultimate bravery

I cannot discuss bravery without sharing this article about a chance encounter on an Edinburgh street that reminds us all how precious this gift of life is and to never forget our gratitude to those who protect us.

The Week Ahead

A quieter week for me as I complete a short trip to Sweden and commence planning for the May Scottish Business Network event series where we will feature a number of our Ambassadors visiting Scotland.

This week I am also helping with the international outreach for a project close to my heart.

Last year I was approached by Christopher Ewing a Scot based in Paris who shared with me the story of Caledonian Braves Football Club a team in the fifth tier of Scottish football. Chris had the idea of running a crowdfunding campaign to allow Scots the world over to own a piece of the club. Well, the campaign has been a huge success but there is still time for you to join me as a football club owner.

Without considering the consequences and trying to achieve what you want to achieve is my definition of bravery. Yes, it requires a lot of mental strength and patience because of the difficulties you face in that process.

Love it Russell. I think this is why we need that purpose or why attached to what we are doing. It is the focus that enables the bravery I think. Like walking a tightwire and looking at the other side and avoiding the hazards in looking down.

Russell I think it comes from unwavering BELIEF that you are onto something and having the patience to figure it out. If you can look deep inside yourself, connect with your purpose, surround yourself with people who will support, nurture and also believe in your mission and you can hold onto it, no matter what, you will prevail. In one of my start-ups, it took me a year of saying "I just don't get it, what do we need to do; to make this product need to have?" to my wife. We challenged and challenged the proposition and the demographic with the team until it just snapped into place. We made a very slight pivot and moved from the tail wagging the dog to the dog wagging the tail and things took off. We didn't look back from that moment..

As the President of Brave-heart Real Estate Group LLC operating under license with Carolina One Real Estate Services I endorse this message. It’s not how many times we fall that matters but rather the tenacity and bravery to get back up and continue the fight towards whatever greatness one is seeking to attain. Whilst being aspirational in conveying these sentiments I’m ever mindful collectively “we” are all in this together. Be brave and surround yourself with those who ask more of you in pursuit of achieving your own mastery! Slainte MC aka US SCOT ???????????????????? see kiscevs
